On February 6, 2023 we witnessed horrible images of toppled apartment buildings, collapsing storefronts, and rescue efforts facing mountains of concrete and rubble as survivors were slowly pulled from wreckage caused by dual earthquakes in Turkey & Syria. Since those early days, the enormous death toll has only risen to over 41,000 (as of February 14th), and will continue to rise as the days turn into weeks. Hospitals are flooded with injured and dying and those who made it out alive are now tasked with figuring out a way to survive these cold winter months and move forward, picking up the tattered shreds of the lives and neighborhoods they once had.
Our hearts go out to those who are suffering, and we know God is pained by what he sees and hears. We urge everyone to pray for the numerous communities in Syria & Turkey. Pray for rescue and relief and for people to turn to Christ for comfort amidst their suffering. We also want to give the people of Grace Church an opportunity to share our resources.
