This year we will once more be teaming up with our mission partner, Hesed Community Church, in Detroit as they host their 5th Annual Pride for Parents Christmas Store on Saturday, December 16th, from 12-4 PM. This pop-up store empowers parents to be able to shop for Christmas gifts for their own children at a significantly reduced price.

We partner with Hesed to provide a shopping experience for families in the Brightmoor neighborhood of Detroit. All items are priced from $1-5, which is up to 95% off of retail price. This allows parents to feel supported, but still have the pride and joy of picking out and purchasing gifts for their children themselves. Volunteers help set up the store on Friday, and then Saturday we have volunteers help with everything from registration, greeting, and wrapping gifts to assisting parents as they shop.

The other significant way we support this event is by providing the gifts and coats. A curated list has been provided by the leadership team at Hesed as a guide for the types of gifts kids would be excited about (from newborn to teenagers).  The key things when purchasing these gifts is to ensure they are brand new, and that they are of good quality. All items purchased for the store should be things you would be excited about to give your own child, friend, etc. These gifts can be purchased online from the wishlist to be sent directly to Hesed, or gifts can be brought into any of our Grace locations to be collected and taken over to Hesed for the event.

Serve at the store

Volunteers are needed to help serve in a variety ways. You can help set up the store on the evening of Friday, December 15th, 6-8pm or help run the store on Saturday, December 16th from 11:30am to 5pm. Sign up to work a shift at the link below!
