Our Board

Erik joined Henry Ford Health in 2021, overseeing the Major Gifts team including Game on Cancer, Corporate and Individual Giving, Grants and Foundation Relations as well as Comprehensive Wellness.  Before joining Henry Ford Health, Erik worked in the startup world before serving in various development roles at Albion College, including Chief Advancement Officer.  Erik received his bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Michigan where he was a 4-year letter winner in track and field. Erik also holds a master’s degree in higher education administration from Michigan State University.  Currently, Erik serves as a board member for Grace Church as well as the T. Wall Foundation, an organization that provides critical resources and joyful experiences for special needs children.  Erik resides in Ann Arbor, MI with his wife and their three children.

Janelle Simmonds is passionate about advancing education where academia and industry meet. She brings expertise in university-industry partnerships, organizational strategy, and online learning to her work across higher education and the corporate world. As Global Enablement Lead for the Future Workforce team at Siemens Digital Industries Software, Janelle leads content and credential strategy—equipping learners, educators and employers with resources to prepare the next generation of skilled professionals. Before Siemens, she led partnership development at the University of Michigan’s Center for Academic Innovation and served as Chief of Staff to the Provost at UM-Dearborn. Janelle spent 12 years in the UK and Europe in international pathways education, leading programs and teaching marketing, PR, and business development. At Kaplan International Pathways, she served as curriculum consultant, college director, and associate director of Kaplan’s Center for Learning Innovation & Quality. She holds a BA in Communications and International Studies, and an MA in Communication from Wayne State University. She earned an executive coaching certification from the University of Michigan, and provides coaching and consulting to empower leaders and teams. Janelle also sits on a number of higher education and workforce boards.

Erik leads software engineering teams at Stripe, a global payments company. He has experience managing change and scaling high-performing teams across growth-stage companies, including through acquisitions topping $2B. Erik holds a BSE in Computer Science from the University of Michigan and a Master of Management with a focus on Strategy from Penn State. He is based in Ann Arbor, MI.

Sung Kim is the founder and lead pastor of the network of Grace Churches. He is passionate about helping churches and organizations thrive at the intersection of faith, leadership, and innovation. With a background spanning church planting, pastoral leadership, business strategy, and organizational growth, Sung brings a unique blend of missional imagination and marketplace insight. He has led multisite church expansions, launched entrepreneurial ventures, and coached leaders in developing future-focused strategies that blend purpose with performance. He is an ordained Minister of Word and Sacrament in the Reformed Church in America.
