Acts 1:6-8
Then they gathered around him and asked him, “Lord, are you at this time going to restore the kingdom to Israel?”

He said to them: “It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by his own authority. But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

As Jesus described where his disciples would be witnesses, he started small. They were all waiting in Jerusalem and Jesus said they would be witnesses in that very city. Then Judea and Samaria (the surrounding regions), and finally to the ends of the earth.

His challenge to you is the same. He wants you to first be a witness where you are, then in surrounding areas, and finally in ways beyond what you might imagine or consider. As we read this passage again, ask God, “Where is my Jerusalem? Where is my Judea?” In what immediate contexts does Jesus want you to be a witness? Where is he calling you to expand beyond your current circumstance?
