This year, we want to equip you to start the new year off right by offering Dave Ramsey’s nine-week Financial Peace University course at our Grace Ann Arbor West location.
This class will run from January 14 to March 10, 2020 every Tuesday from 7 PM to 8:30 PM. We can’t wait to see how it changes lives.
Registration for the class is $99. The entire fee is set by Ramsey/FPU to cover a materials kit for each family, couple, or individual taking the course. If you can’t afford the class right now, don’t let that stop you! Scholarships are available; just send us an email at [email protected] for more information.
What is Financial Peace University?
Money matters. This is actually a biblical principle: the Bible references money over 800 times. What we do or don’t do with our money matters.
Before fixing your problems with debt, it’s important to know why you got into debt, talk about how you and your spouse relate about money – and how that may be different, and then look at how you can set up a framework to make changes going forward.
The class starts out looking at saving up an emergency fund to give you a nice base to work off of so that you don’t continue going into debt if some “emergency” were to happen. It also talks about setting up a larger emergency fund of 3-6 months once you’re out of debt.
Next the class looks at money in marriage, how our money affects relationships and how different people have different outlooks on money. They explore how that needs to be accounted for through having monthly budget meetings where finances are discussed.
Save $1,000 for your starter emergency fund.
Pay off all debt (except the house) using the debt snowball.
Save 3-6 months of expenses in a fully-funded emergency fund.
Invest 15% of your household income in retirement.
Save for your children’s college fund.
Pay off your home early.
Build wealth and give generously.
